Torsa<\/strong>, a family-owned company from M\u00e1laga specializing in the development and management of renewable energy facilities, is preparing to enter the Chilean market with the construction of three wind farms representing an investment of $120 million<\/strong> (approximately \u20ac110 million<\/strong>). The total installed capacity of these projects will be 102 megawatts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The three wind projects include the Cardenal Wind Farm (30 MW)<\/strong>, Manantiales (24.15 MW)<\/strong>, and Los Cerrillos (48.3 MW)<\/strong>.
Mariano Barroso<\/strong>, president of the company, explained that they have already secured agreements with investors\u2014whose identities remain undisclosed\u2014and are seeking additional partners. The goal is to begin construction during the first half of 2018<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Barroso expressed satisfaction with the company\u2019s expansion into Chile, stating that “it\u2019s a country with legal certainty, where business can be conducted with confidence.” However, as is also the case in Spain, these types of projects require numerous urban planning and environmental permits.<\/p>\n

Torsa began measuring wind potential in various regions of Chile six years ago<\/strong> to identify the most productive locations, and although the full permitting process is not yet complete, significant progress has been made. The company has already obtained favorable Environmental Qualification Resolutions<\/strong> for the Cardenal<\/strong> and Manantiales<\/strong> projects, and says the process for Los Cerrillos<\/strong> is “at an advanced stage.”<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re doing well\u2014it\u2019s a long process, but we\u2019re nearing the end,\u201d said Barroso. \u201cThe development cycle for a wind farm in Spain is usually between seven and ten years, and in Chile, it\u2019s proving to be more or less the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

Barroso, who also serves as president of the Association of Renewable Energy Promoters and Producers of Andalusia (Aprean)<\/strong>, noted that the company is also evaluating opportunities in other South American countries, \u201cbut we are proceeding with caution.\u201d<\/p>\n
