The company, headquartered in the Málaga Tech Park (PTA), has implemented an innovative safety system at the Antamina mine in Peru. Podcast and interview available on Onda Cero Radio.
At Antamina, located in the Andes mountains at an altitude of 4,500 metres above sea level, Torsa has installed its devices on 12 P&H 4100 XPC mining shovels—among the largest in the world—as well as on 180 of the industry’s biggest haul trucks, each with a capacity of over 300 tonnes, and on auxiliary vehicles used for cleaning, digging, and site preparation tasks.
Torsa has been working closely with the Antamina mining company for over four years, and its equipment installed in the fleet has now surpassed 140,000 hours of uninterrupted operation.
Torsa’s president, Mariano Barroso, stated:
“We are very proud of the award and of the trust Antamina has placed in us over the years. But above all, we are proud to have brought our engineering technology to one of the largest mines in the world—producing over 430,000 tonnes annually—and one of the most demanding in terms of safety protocols and systems. This achievement marks a major milestone not only for our company, but also for innovation coming out of Málaga and Andalusia.”
